About Joe
The foundation was established by his three children, all rooted in southeastern Massachusetts, who each carry a piece of him into everything they do.
Joseph P. Niccoli Sr. spent decades keeping his neighbors warm — through his oil business serving Brockton and the surrounding communities, through every brutal New England winter, without complaint. But ask anyone who knew him and they'll tell you the same thing: the business was just what he did. Who he was is a different story. He was the guy with a laugh that filled a room, an insult that landed like a compliment, and a standing policy of leaving Patriots games at the end of the third quarter — Route 1 traffic waited for no one.
He was a devoted father and a proud papa to his grandchildren — always ready to drop everything when someone needed him. And when he gave, he gave without keeping score. He bought boats and trucks and never once made anyone feel like they owed him for it. When his best friend passed, he quietly covered the entire memorial dinner — the gathering, the food, the chance for people to be together and grieve properly. Nobody asked him to. That was just Joe.
And every year, without fail, he made his way back to Aruba. It was his place — warm water, familiar faces, and an island that knew him almost as well as his own neighborhood did. He went so many times and met so many people there that it stopped feeling like a vacation and started feeling like a second home. If you look closely at this website, you'll find a little piece of it woven in. That felt right.
He passed peacefully on April 16th, 2024, in his favorite chair, in his favorite place, watching Law & Order SVU. Exactly as he would have wanted.
We were lucky to have him. This foundation is how we make sure the world keeps feeling that.
Who we are
Christina Serode
Christina Serode is Joe’s oldest child and only daughter. A hairstylist for decades, Christina has always been the one who shows up, with a steady presence and a caring heart. She was by her father’s side at every doctor’s appointment, even on the days he made it difficult, because that’s just who she is. She shared a special bond with her father, built on loyalty, patience, and unconditional love. A devoted mother and daughter, Christina embodies the quiet, steadfast love that defined the Niccoli family.
Joey Niccoli
Joey Niccoli followed in his father's footsteps in the most tangible way possible. He is carrying on the family oil business and continuing to serve the same community his father spent a lifetime building. Joey's work ethic is a direct reflection of the man who raised him: reliable, hardworking, and deeply rooted in taking care of the people around him. In many ways, every customer he serves is a continuation of his father's legacy.
Anthony Niccoli
Anthony Niccoli is Joe's youngest and the founder of this foundation. A wedding photographer who has spent years connecting with his community one family at a time, Anthony grew up on the sidelines of Patriots games with his dad, on jet skis down the Cape, and on the slopes — with his father always somewhere in the background, proud and supportive. Starting this foundation is Anthony's way of filling some very big shoes — and making sure his father's name means something for generations to come.
The Annual Joe Niccoli Invitational is how we turn that generosity into action. If you'd like to be part of it, we'd love to have you.
